Seaford Cemetery

Seaford Cemetery consists of the original sections near the Chapel and a new Eastern Section.

The cemetery offers traditional plots, lawn cemetery plots, Muslim plots, ashes plots and the Chapel. There is also a small scattering area in the Eastern Section where cremated remains can be scattered by prior arrangement only.

The new section of the cemetery was opened to increase the number of burial plot options available, as the plots in the original section have all been sold. The available plots in Seaford Eastern are in the lawned cemetery, so only headstone memorials with bases are permitted, to keep the lawned areas neat and tidy. Burials can still take place in the original cemetery, in pre-purchased plots or by reopening graves at the owner's instruction. Every full grave can hold up to six sets of ashes, even if there are already full interments at full depth. Cremated remains graves can hold up to two sets of ashes. All interments need to be organised through the Burials team, either directly (ashes only) by calling 01323 761093 or through a Funeral Director.

Plots are allocated at the time of booking an interment and cannot be reserved or pre-purchased (bought in advance for future use). There is a choice between Eastern Lawn and Eastern F section for new full burials, but there is no option to select a specific plot within the section as they need to be selected based on the recent interments and the ground stability. For ashes interments, there is a choice between Eastern D and Eastern E, but again selecting the specific plot is not an option. There is an extension planned in Eastern E to accommodate more ashes interments in the near future.

There is a small section at Seaford cemetery, right in front of the Cemetery Chapel, dedicated to our fallen soldiers. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission tends to this area. You can read more about the war graves on their Seaford cemetery website.

Some sections of the cemetery have been designated for wilding, to enhance biodiversity, support pollinators and improve soil health. If a grave you wish to visit is within one of the wilding areas, please call 01323 761093, Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm, in advance of your visit and the team will arrange a safe path to be cut through to the grave. Alternatively, you can email a request to [email protected] or use the Contact us page.
