Book of Remembrance for children
The Book of Remembrance for Children and Babies is a heartfelt way to honour and remember young lives in a permanent way at Eastbourne Crematorium. It provides the opportunity to create a very personal commemoration using your own choice of words that can be viewed forever. The beautiful hand-written inscriptions can be two, five or eight lines long. There is the option to add a hand-painted image of your choice next to the five- or eight-line inscriptions; perhaps a favourite toy or past-time. Lines are inscribed in black ink, and the initial letter of the surname is illuminated in gold.
The Book is displayed in a closed glass-topped cabinet and is open at the appropriate date every day. Entries can be viewed without appointment on the anniversary date. The Book of Remembrance Room is open 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1pm on weekends and Bank Holidays. Orders for the Book of Remembrance for Children and Babies are sent off as soon as they are placed with us so there is no delay in your inscription being created. We will contact you to let you know when the Book has been updated and is back on site.
Inscriptions can be placed on any date that is meaningful or significant for any reason. Please make your chosen date clear when placing your order. Each line can be a maximum of 32 characters; this includes letters, numbers, spaces, and punctuation. All entries start with the surname, then the forenames, of the loved one you are memorialising. If your baby was yet to be named, the artists can inscribe "Baby Surname" rather than "Surname, Forename(s)".

Viewing the book online can give lots of different examples but feel free to use your creativity to uniquely memorialise your loved ones with a personlised dedication.
In addition to an entry into the Book of Remembrance for Children and Babies, there is also the option of ordering a Miniature Book or a Memorial Card. These are beautifully hand-drawn to the same high standard as entries into the main book and have the additional benefit of being portable and therefore can be kept at home with you. There is no requirement to purchase an entry into the main Book if you just wish to order a standalone Memorial Card or Miniature Book.
